Paper Tigers
The beginning of the new millennium has meant hard times for the fans of Rock. It was not easy to find the true Rock’n’Roll in the charts. There was almost no radio or TV station that would be over-enthusiastic about the true massive guitar sound. Many good reasons were needed to embark someone to change that. Four young boys from Copenhagen decided to take up the fight. Their band is called Paper Tigers and their mission is clear: To give old school rock music the renaissance many of us have been waiting for. The band has many good reasons to flourish: attitude, endless energy and excellent songs.
The success story of the band began in the parental home of the siblings, Linus and Andreas Valdemar. Their father, a successful regional folk singer, took care of his sons’ interest in music from their childhood. The sound of the sixties irrevocably settled in their souls. Linus composed songs, played guitar and sang and Andreas played bass. However, it had still taken a few more years until Paper Tigers were born and ready to leave the shed behind their parents’ house. The band gained perfect sound when a new keyboardist, Sebastian Martin, and a drummer, Niklas Løvén, appeared in the rehearsal room. The sound has got harmonic, spellbinding, in the centre of current events. Already from the first jamming sessions it was clear that this was it. And indeed, from this time, the quartet has been continuously moving forwards. Thanks to the driving sound, simple melodies and brisk live performances, the band had already won several contests, only a few months after their first concert. In 2011, they were awarded “Best Rock Band” at the Danish Underground Music Awards. In 2012, the band released their first EP “If We May?”, which received excellent reviews across the country. Tours round Denmark got longer and longer, the number of fans grew enormously and their songs made it to airplay on radio stations – it was only a matter of time when their success would cross the borders.
In 2015 Paper Tigers appeared on the international scene in May, they performed their first, enthusiastically received concert at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn and Berlin’s “Comet-Club“. They also started to be sought-after and booked by festivals. Their debut album “Head over Heels was released on 4th March 2016. The album was produced by Danish guitar legend Soren Andersen, who gave a characteristic and energetic sound to all eleven songs on the album. Old proven Medley Studios in Copenhagen provided the musicians with the right background which has given the songs the vital maturity that radiates from them now. The result is worth hearing!
